From high school acquaintances to friends and eventually each other’s forever person, Caity and Macalister’s romance began unexpectedly at Big Day Out in 2012 and has been festive and music-filled ever since. May 10th in 2024 at Goonoo Goonoo Station was their very own, very special Big Day Out, complete with flowers, foliage, a couple of memorable ‘I dos’, and enough candlelight to illuminate even the blackest of evening skies. And the styling? Plum purple, dusty pinks, and crisp ivory – rich and evocative, like a mosaic of the all the seasons. It’s our favourite yet at JMFS!
Caity’s bouquet was a standout. We’re still swooning over the deep burgundy anthuriums, fluffy, full-headed latte roses, and dense sprigs of rust-coloured copper beech. These moody tones even matched the silk ribbons that she sourced for her DIY wedding invitations. A single, alluring phalaenopsis orchid stem was the finishing touch. It’s all in the details!
A moment for the newlyweds’ ceremony backdrop too, please! Black parrot tulips and achromatic philodendron leaves added texture and A LOT of drama, popping against our imposing tall white plinths and delicate smattering of Moroccan pots. Stone-coloured tealights, nude hurricane candles, and muted pink napkins carried this elegant theming through to their reception, which was as intimate and charming as one could expect from a lovingly restored 19th century wool store (despite its vast size!).
Gorgeous florals and styling aside, the personal touches that Caity and Macalister made leading up to the wedding were incredibly special. The two exchanged letters with their parents prior to walking down the aisle and handwrote little notes to each of their 160 guests, hiding them under individual table settings.
