Meet The Team: Admin VIP Danni

News

As the newest JMFS inclusion, Danni has only been with us a few months. In this short time, however, she’s very quickly become an indispensable team member – warm, collaborative, thorough, adaptable, and impossible not to gel with.

It’s unspeakably frosty outside this July but the chai is hot at our local Cafe Inu (which also boasts the comfiest couches!). Together, we rugged up and drank our weight in tea, all the while chatting about weddings and wellness.

How did you get your start in the industry? What keeps you motivated?

In all honesty, I sort of fell into it! I was a freelance fashion writer in Sydney for a long while and then took a chance on a company that provides photobooths for events when I relocated to Newcastle several years ago. I haven’t looked back since and I genuinely love being the go-to girl who helps pulling everything together.

What do you love most about working in weddings and events?

Linking up with amazing vendors and other talented creatives. We’re incredibly fortunate in the Hunter Valley to have so many! A lot of work and energy goes into one day (albeit a very special one!) and it’s always very rewarding and satisfying to see it all unfold. Admittedly, I’m also a hopeless romantic so witnessing the joy of newlyweds and hearing their stories is lovely too.

Top tips for couples in the throes of wedding planning?

First and foremost, I think ensuring that there are moments set aside just for the two of you is a big one. Even if it’s just a few minutes to check in on each other during the reception, these efforts are really important. The day is about you and the love you share, after all! Sourcing as much visual inspiration from Pinterest and other social media platforms is helpful as well, especially for potential suppliers who want to understand the exact look and feel you’re after.

Favourite wedding tradition?

It’s a tie between first dance and ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue’.

Fun fact about you?

I go crazy for anything spicy! I’ve even won a few Australian chilli-eating competitions over the years!
