Meet The Team: Florist Georgia

News

She is the youngest in our close-knit trio of full-time florists and stylists at JMFS, but Georgia’s grit, eloquence, inquisitive nature, and extraordinary dependability show wisdom far beyond her years – and they have ever since she joined us 2 years ago.

We recently sat down together and chatted all things floral. Spoiler alert: She’s a gifted creative in more ways than one!

What got you interested in floristry?

I’ve always admired the way elements in nature create different complimentary shapes and textures. Landscapes are organic and often really beautiful too. If I had to zero in on a moment that really piqued my interest in this world, however, it would be The Big Flower Flight show that I came across a few years ago. The huge 3D sculptures that contestants make with florals are simply incredible and watching them come to life inspired me to take a floristry course. Fast-forward a little and I’ve now got my dream job!

What do you love most about working the wedding and events industry?

So many things! Seeing the whole wedding day come together is pretty special though. I love getting a glimpse at all the small details that showcase a couple’s personality and love story. From florals and styling to favours and cake, no two weddings are ever the same.

Best advice for couples planning their wedding?

Don’t go too hard with DIYing. Professionals are here to take a lot of that unnecessary stress away, making sure everything runs seamlessly and looks picture-perfect on your big day.

Favourite wedding tradition?

First dance!

And the ultimate ‘get to know you’ prompt – give us a fun fact…

Outside of JMFS, I have a small illustration business where I draw and sell pet portraits and botanicals at local markets.
